Female cat won't tolerate male cat after being left on screen porch over night by accident.
We left my 10 yr old female cat on screen porch about 10 hours last night by accident. We let her in, my male cat ran outside. My female cat hung around door looking out like she wanted back out, which we thought was odd. After letting her out she attacked our 9 yr old male cat. Now, she won't tolerate his presence even after giving her relax treats. She hisses at him, runs and hides. Now we have her isolated. They have been around each other since he was a kitten. She's never cared for him, just tolerated but she's never attacked him like that. It's like she's never seen him before. Please help! Nothing could have gotten to her out there last night. It's a screen porch. Can anyone give us some insight or help on this matter? This will cause a big problem if they can't cohabitate anymore.
Thank you in advance!

Tracy, don't give up. Your girl has been traumatized. When Delilah was accidentally left outside overnight years ago, she spent the night under our bump-out bedroom window, then came running in and spent the next two days under the bed in the spare room. I, like you, was beside myself. Delilah is not an aggressive cat, but if she had been, I imagine she would have gone after my other cats. Keep the cats apart for a few days until your girl calms down. Keep your schedule normal. Feed as usual, scoop boxes, cuddle them, etc. If, after a week, your female is still out of sorts, contact your vet. A short course of anti-anxiety meds by prescription might help her calm down. Don't blame yourself, either. It happens to all of us.

You might need to introduce them again as if they had never met. Saw this on Jackson Galaxy's show, My Cat From Hell. Couple with two cats moved into new home; cats had gotten along fine for years, but freaked when they moved into strange inenvironment, and male kitty terrorized female. Had to start from scratch with introductions, but it worked.
