Every time we pet our cat he licks his body, started about 6 months ago. Any suggestions to why this is? (no fleas)

Funny you should ask! The other day, I picked Izzie up, hugged and kissed him and put him down, all within about 15 seconds. He then proceeded to groom himself for the next 10 minutes. Boy, did that make ME feel good! ;-) Cats are VERY scent-oriented. We get questions about why, when one cat goes to the vet or the groomer, she comes home and the other cats instantly start picking on her. It's because she smells "weird". You are transfering your scent to your cat. He smells like you instead of himself and he's a little concerned about it. As long as everything else is normal and he is not over-grooming to the point of bald spots on him, I wouldn't worry.
