In a way- they come out of heat much faster after a successful mating so not letting her come in contact with an intact male cat theoretically keeps her in heat longer, but it's really not worth the risk of pregnancy just to get her out of heat sooner to fix her- the reason it's best to wait until a cat is out of heat to fix them is because they have increased blood flow in the area while in heat. Well the only time there is more blood flow in the reproductive tract is when they are pregnant!

The average heat shouldn't last much longer than a week, so call and make an appointment now to have her done 7-23 days from now, and if she's still obviously in heat the day before the surgery call the vet and ask if they'd prefer to reschedule.

XYour cat is going to be in heat for a certain amount of time no matter what you do. Keeping her isolated is the best idea to keep the cat population down. But you don't have to wait untill she's not in heat to get her spayed. The sooner the better. You'll get more sleep and so will she.
