If your cat has a strong personality, it could be a dominance thing, but mostly, cats who are "cuddlers" like to be very close. They can smell us, feel us and maybe even hear our hearts beating and this comforts them and makes them feel loved and safe.

I've always envied that they can do this - I'm warm, soft and breathe which gives them a gentle rocking motion as they fall asleep. What's not to like? It is cute when they do it. I love the feel of them purring.
