Ragdolls, like Maine Coon cats are slow to mature. The breed fanciers website says that they don't reach their full size until they are 3 years old. But, that doesn't mean that when they are 2 years and 364 days old they will suddenly gain 10 pounds and grow a few inches. Izzie is a Maine Coon (mix) and although at times he does "look bigger" to me, he's pretty much been where he's at for 2 years or so and he's 5. If you are considering a Ragdoll, I've heard that they are wonderful, large "couch potato" type cats. My dog's breeder had one who loved to play with the puppies. They aren't hyperactive, talkative go-getter type cats but if you're looking for somecat to keep your legs warm on a cold, winter's night, this might be the breed for you!

I have read that Ragdolls don't reach full maturity until they are 4 years old. I'm not sure exactly what that's referring to, but I'm guessing that is more along the line of attitude (becoming more mature). My cat is a Ragdoll. I adopted her when she was barely 3 & she's the same size as she was then. She has matured though. She doesn't have temper tantrums like she used to & she doesn't have to stay glued by my side all the time anymore. Ragdolls are a sweet, loving breed to have & they do love being with you. They don't meow much either. They should never go outside because they aren't fighters. If you are considering getting one, I think they are a real good breed to have.
