Corn leaf toxicity?
I brought home some corn on the cob yesterday, and before I knew it, one of my cats had munched on the outer green leaves.
He did not get sick, and seems fine--no pain, tummy issues.
I know corn is in cat food, but what about the toxicity of the leaves? The only thing I can find on line is something called a "corn plant" being toxic (it looks like a tropical plant), but it isn't an actual corn stalk and leaves.
Any help?
He doesn't like cat grass, so I need an alternative besides my little catnip plant, as they all seem to crave greens.

I don't think its poisonous but call the ASPCA poison hotline to make sure 1-888-426-4435.
Most of the cat grass sold in stores is wheat grass and is not as tatsy as regular grass for cats. Try buying cat grass seeds at a nursery as they are supposed to be more appealing. Make sure its cat grass seed and not regular lawn seed that is coated in chemicals.

This is the only thing I could find on corn husks from a source I would trust but it's more concerned with the silk. www2.aspca.org
So many things that you would not even dream were dangerous are poison to cats so it's best just to keep plants away from them. None of mine are plant chewers so I am lucky I haven't had a problem. I don't keep houseplants anymore. But I would take your corn out on the deck to clean it from now on if you know he has a habit of getting into stuff like that. And yes, a corn plant is like a mini palm tree. Definitely a different species of plant.
