Cat looks skinny and has hair loss on its back legs and around its back area. What's going on?

Kitty might have hyperthyroidism, a very common issue among older cats. Other symptoms include drinking a lot, meowing more than usual, increased activity, increased appetite. This is a serious condition but can be easily treated with medication. I would take kitty in for a blood test, this will confirm the problem. Hope this helps!

Cats also often lose hair on their lower back, their back legs, and their bellies with flea allergy. Your vet should be able to determine if your cat has flea allergy, some other kind of allergy or skin problem, or a thyroid problem as the previous answerer mentioned. Your vet will be able to give you a diagnosis and proper treatment for your cat.
