Absolutely. Mice and rats have fleas just like any other animal. Rat fleas were the cause of the Bubonic plague after all. Be aware that cats can also be poisoned by eating or chewing on a mouse that has eaten rat/mouse poison, that's why I'd prefer to use traps rather than a cat to catch mice. Dying from rat poison is not a pleasant way to go. Your first step is to get some Frontline from your vet for him. The stuff you buy at the pet marts doesn't work and some has been known to be very harmful if not fatal to the kitty. Use it monthly or the fleas will come back. Use it on ALL your animals, not just one. Then you'll have to vaccum your home thoroughly because the fleas are also on your furniturre, bedding and rugs. Get rid of the vaccuum bag because vacuuming doesn't kill the fleas and they'll crawl out. In extreme cases, you'll need to get a "flea bomb" or spray from your vet and, removing your animals and yourself, "bomb" your home. There's no such thing as only one flea!
