Bringing an 8 year old manx into a new home. any tips?
I just got an 8 year old manx (cole) from another family yesterday, He is very timid, it took him 7 hours to come out of his hiding corner and explore the room. I have a 1 year old Siamese (puar) who doesn't care about his scent but if Puar sees him she will hiss and so will Cole (to be expected i know) The manx is refusing food although he is drinking water. We had a set back where Puar made it into the room i have Cole secluded in, there was hissing but no fighting, and he has officially retreated back to his corner and has been there for about 10 or 12 hours. Can anyone give me some advise as to how to help them both acclimate?

Make sure they are both spayed/neutered and vet checked. It will take them a while to acclimate, but do not let them be alone together until you are double-sure that there will be no incidents! You can treat them for being good with Greenies dental treats, which will help to lure a hungry cat out of a corner. Playing with a string (encouraging pouncing instincts) works too. Realize that you have a young adult and a 50's ish (in human years) cat, both with different temperaments and activity levels. Make sure Puar knows that Cole is now a family member too, and divide your time between the two fairly. ^_^
