Biting - what does this behaviour mean?
I've had my cat since he was 3 weeks old (the mom disappeared so I fed him with a bottle). He's very attached to me. I went away for a week. In the 24 hours since I've returned, he's been following me around, atttacking my legs and biting me. He gives me the evil glare. When he bites he doesn't break the skin, he just grabs a mouthful of skin and holds it like that. He has calmed down now over the past couple of hours. Do you think he was mad that I left him?

Since he isn't outright attacking you, I doubt if you'll have to sleep with one eye open. Depending on who took care of him that week, if anyone did, he may just need one on one time with you. He's letting you know that he's there and he needs some intensive cuddling and loving-on.

It's not that he's mad at you; he's probably expressing his anxiety over being left alone. It was probably very confusing and upsetting to him, but he's not punishing you.
