14wk old kitten has very week back legs. Tries to move them but it looks more like frog legs and he just uses his front legs to pull himself around. His back paws just kind of flop around but you can see he tries to move them. Has gotten progressively worse in the past week and in the past 48hrs has had diarrhea twice. Breathes strange when asleep (sounds like he snores sometimes). Vet recommended to take him to a neurologist which I'll try to do tomorrow (through emergency room at animal hospital) but can't afford all of the expensive testing. His eyes are also foggy. Tested negative for toxo and coronavirus but vet is afraid he might still have either one. He was brought home after my son visited a farm with his dad. What could it be?! He's so affectionate and sweet...we're heartbroken.

He may have contracted distemper (usually fatal) or more likely, he has birth defects. Chances are that he could die or be permanently disabled, so discuss this possibility with your kid before it happens. If you cannot afford a special needs cat, try to find a local rescue group that might be willing to take him from you. Thanks for trying! ^_^
