Signs of Cat Illness: Is My Cat Sick?

Cat Safety: Signs of Illness

What should you look for?

A once-a-year trip to the vet is the best way to identify—and prevent—potential problems. Call or visit your vet if your cat:

  • Has a dull or patchy coat
  • Is suddenly not grooming himself
  • Has not eaten for 24 hours
  • Has persistent and severe vomiting
  • Has prolonged diarrhea
  • Has red or watery eyes
  • Has nasal discharge or is sneezing
  • Strains to urinate, has bloody urine or frequent urination, is anxious or crying around the litter box
